ROTARY PARK

Public BBQ

Perched opposite the water tower lookout, Rotary Park commands sweeping views across the Upper Spencer Gulf with the Flinders Ranges providing a dramatic backdrop. This well-appointed family destination, just a kilometre from Port Augusta's town centre, offers what locals consider the best public BBQ setup in the area. Three substantial covered tables anchor the main shelter, flanked by two free gas barbecues, while smaller shelters accommodate intimate gatherings of nine. Additional seating scattered beneath established trees provides welcome shade across the expansive grassed area. The fenced playground entertains children with existing equipment, though visitors note it could benefit from swings and additional features. A concrete skate ramp adds appeal for older kids, while the large oval provides ample space for ball games and family activities. Clean public toilets serve the facility, though standards can vary. The elevated water tower platform offers particularly impressive vantage points over the township and gulf beyond, making this generous park an ideal choice for family gatherings, birthday celebrations, or simply a peaceful barbecue with a view.
